Yesterday was Veterans Day many who have served changed their social media profiles to let everyone know they served. Others took advantage of the businesses who offered discounts for free meals and shopping. I will continue to shed light on those veterans who don’t have a voice or who have fallen through the cracks to society. These men and women didn’t have the opportunity to waltz in a business wearing paraphernalia or camo to get 10% off a meal. They still sought shelter and food just like another day of survival for them. Change has to take place for these 1% who served. Here stands Robert T. gazing in deep thought as he shared his story with me. To painful to go into details he did share his time in the US Navy as he served on the USS Maryland SSBN. He was granted the chance to do great things but due to his unfortunate circumstances he found himself homeless without a family and support system. Many veterans are ashamed, feel hopeless and out right defeated as you walk by on your cell phones or step over them on the way to your favorite coffee shop. Until you stop, ask questions and listen will you truly be changed and able to help
