While in Iraq in 2006 June 3, fighting and dealing with the counter insurgents going building to building both soldiers friends from Boston do what they are trained to do. Peering around every corner of walls they described shot up from urban war these men and now brothers for life because of what they say was the moment that changed their lives. This was when at the time Joe, E6 (Staff Sergeant) leading his soldiers down an alley took the brunt of a rocket propelled grenade leaving him in an open position, his friend who didn’t want to be identified by name, sergeant pulled him with his shattered blown off legs from enemy contact to a position that they could call for a Medivac. He said that this was my brother my friend and my boss and all I knew to do was to do what I was trained to do. From that day on they have been inseparable. Currently both men live in the halls of the overcrowded shelter and daily sit out and talk about life and the memories they now have for the rest of their life.
