11 years of service in the US Army with tours to Iraq and twice to Afghanistan with units of 1/28 eventually leading a team with the 75 Ranger regiment, Michael who once was a team leader is now a 6-month veteran to the streets of Boston. Earning a few dollars here and there he walks to a local sandwich shop where he is permitted to give what earnings he has to make a meal combo. He said I would take combat any day over this, hardest thing I ever had to do. Survival in combat is a heck of a lot easier that survival on the streets. He said in combat you know the man to your right and left out here you can't trust anyone. He told me he was recently enrolled in a training class that he hopes would ultimately lead to employment with hopes of being able to put a roof over his head!
